Default Potassium Sorbate a bad thing?

As newbies we are told to not add packaged fruit/juice if it has potassium sorbate in it as it will inhibit or stop fermintation. But if your mead is in the secondary and clear when you add it is it bad to stop fermintation ? seems it may prevent bottle bombs. Jim

It won't stop fermentation in an active fermentation. Sorbate inhibits yeast reproduction, so if the yeast have already produced, it won't do anything.
