My first brew ever - mead/cyser

Hi all, discovered this site through a link to the JOAM thread. Read around the site a bit and decided I'd try my hand and whipping some home brew up. I guess you could say I'm going for a more of a cyser than a strict mead. My attempt:
5 Gal carboy
6L (1.6Gal) preservative free, pasteurized apple cider
4Kg (9lbs) honey, dissolved into hot water
Lalvin EC-1118
No idea if this will turn out be palatable or turn out to be prison hootch, time will tell. I'm happy to be experimenting either way. Ontario has ridiculous alcohol taxes. A case of 24 Coors Light bottles is $36 for example... Eff that!
