Default microwave warning

i was just going through a couple forums trying to get hints and tips and i read a couple people say they use microwaves for boiling water. if your just using this method to make boiling water to sterilize equipment its no problem, but using microwaved water as an ingredient is a huge no-go. there are multiple reports and experiments where people use microwaved water and stove boiled water to water plants and hydrate flies. everytime the microwaved water had at least an extreme physical reaction to the recipient, namely killing plants in an average of three days and making flies completely strerile in most cases and dead in many other. i just thought id pass this on for people because it cant be heathy for yeast if it kills plants and flies.

Urban myth. Say something long enough and loud enough and people will believe it.

Hey! I had to do that for a couple of months living in Canada with a shared kitchen a few years back. No kettle, too cheap to buy one, and stove heating took too long for my morning cup of tea!

It was quite fun figuring out how long to put the cup of water in the microwave for since if it was in too long, when you dropped in the tea bag you'd get a mini volcano.

Wife and I aren't looking to make kids yet (we only practice, haven't had any) - so maybe there's something in that sterility theory

I've heated water for yeast in the microwave many many times, no problem. (Love snopes.com).

Where you really run into trouble is when you heat your microwave in boiling water... the results are quite shocking
