Default Metheglin

I saw this in a funky book about fruit wines- I didn't see any recipes for it (maybe I need to look harder), but it was described as being a mead made with the addition of herbs.

I guess it's like an herby melomel- anybody ever done this, or have an idea of what sorts of herbs (legal herbs, dude) might go well in a mead? I've not done a true mead, just that Lithuanian honey cordial I mentioned earlier.
