Hmm, not wanting to hijack this thread. I'm sure if you do a search, you can find honey from Georgia or Florida online, at good prices. I just wanted to mention that shipping USPS is very quick and economical.

Priority Mail uses a flat rate on their boxes: "if it fits, it ships for one low price" and the USPS price list says "send for one price, regardless of weight or distance". Flat rate, though there is tiny print that says "up to 70 pounds". You can fit a lot of honey in those boxes, especially if it's in 80 oz containers.

Yep, those medium flat rate boxes are free through the right channels. you can fit a galon in them I'm pretty sure. They cost $10.70 to ship from the post office or $10.20 through Pay Pal shipping acounts.

Yes I can and have paid for it - probably more than most here.....

Dunno how far it'd travel for only 5$......

Well, to here, it costs, for a single gallon about the 70$ mark and that's USPS (UPS/DHL/FEDEX are all considerably more). So it I want something really unusual, then to make it cost effective it has to come 5 gallons a time - shipping for that is about 240$ and at an average price for the honey from somewhere like the Beefolks, then it works out to me, at about £4.50 which is expensive but worth it if it's something that I can't normally locate here.....

Example, I recently managed to get a 14kg bucket of Polish Buckwheat honey. One of the Polish chaps on gotmead ordered it for me and had it sent to the home of a Polish guy who works for my employer. I just had to wait until he went over for a short break and could bring it back with him. It cost me 280zł which included the cost of sending it from SW Poland to NW Poland. The 280zł translated into £56.86 so it worked out at £1.08 per lb or 1.67$US per lb. So if I can find it closer, I will.

Moral of the story, it depends on how far you're shipping it, and who's actually doing the shipping.......

regards

Yes, the price is no doubt very dependent on who's doing the shipping and whether it crosses borders. Atlanta to Santa Fe (nearest city) is about 1400 miles and coast-to-coast is about twice that distance, so $19 flat rate Priority Mail within the US is still pretty cool.

I think the original poster is in Michigan, so they should be able to cram their honey into those Priority Mail boxes too.
