Default How much Elderflowers should I use.

I decided to make a small test batch of Elderflower mead after tasting a Elderflower wine a little while ago. I'm not too sure how much I should use for a 1 gallon batch. In the past I used 1 lb of rose hips for my rosehip mead (5 gallon) and am using 2 oz of heather for the heather mead i have going now (1 gallon). Should I use the same amount I'm using for the heather? Anyone have experience with Elderflower?

Hey well you tried! I appreciate it!

I'll let everyone know how it goes. I have a great source for dried organic flowers.

I have used elderflower in Gewurtztraminer wine in the past and it adds a nice grapefruity fragrance and taste. I used 1 oz. in a 6 gallon batch of wine.

I have also added it to Piesporter and Traminette.

Try WinePress.us for additional guidance and information on Mead and Wine. This is a great forum to learn from. Just like Homebrewtalk.com is.

Salute!
