Default fruit extracts

Has anyone here ever used raspberry or cherry extracts? I can't find a whole lot on the subject and it seems to be cheaper then fresh fruit not to mention the space you would save in the fermenter.

I've used a boysenberry extract in a beer before. I put a little too much in, but it does taste like boysenberry. Not sure how it would do in a mead.

extracts tend to have a meidicinal quality to them that I'm not a fan of. I'll stick to fruit.

If you need more space in the fermenter - you're using the wrong fermenters.

I'd use something like an oregon fruit puree.

I have done a raspberry extract melomel and it was not that great. not nearly as good as one i made later with real raspberries and no extract flavoring.
