Default Checking S.G. 10 days into primary fermentation.

Hey all this may be my first time posting! So the question I have is is it ok to open my primary ferment bucket (2 gallon) to check the S.G. of my Metheglin?
Its has been 10 days since starting it. Also, when should I rack to secondary?
Thanks all in advance for the help, this hobby is time/money/awesome consuming!

Check the gravity anytime you want...... its not beer !

I routinely remove a sample, test it, then put the sample back into the main body of the ferment.

If the kit is clean and sanitised then there's no problem....

Besides, if you're following the regular aeration and staggered nutrient addition, if you haven't checked the gravity every day or two, you wouldn't know when it hits the 1/3rd sugar break would you.......
