Default Best mead recipe for beginner?

So far, I've mostly just been my husband's sidekick while he's brewing ... but I'd really like to strike out on my own I'm thinking about making a batch of mead.

What's a good recipe for beginners? I want something pretty much un-screw-up-able, if possible. Also, any tips or tricks you have to offer would be much appreciated!

Joe's Ancient Orange Mead (JOAM) is the default for new mead makers. No tips, no tricks, pretty much idiot-proof, and very tasty. You can whip up a batch in 10 minutes and be ready to drink it in 3-4 months.

Mead is just Water + Honey + Yeast. Get about 1.5-3# (pending alcohol level and potential sweetness) honey per gallon of water, plus a pack of wine or mead yeast, and it's done.

Water, honey, yeast nutrient, yeast energizer, yeast, carbouy, drilled rubber stopper, airlock, time. Before you start though, you really ought to read this: Amazon.com: The Compleat Meadmaker : Home Production of Honey Wine From Your First Batch to Award-winning Fruit and Herb Variations: Ken Schramm: Books Also, have a look at the mead recipe section and/or Got Mead - Mead (honeywine) making, mead drinking, mead recipes Regards, GF.
