Default is aging in a better bottle ok?

Hi all. Im new to mead, planning on doing my first batch in a couple of weeks. I found a recipe that looks good, but it says to age in a secondary for about a month and a half. This is probably a stupid question, but is it ok to age something in a better bottle? I assume yes, but i know that better bottles are slightly porous.

also, what is a good place to get enough honey for a 5g batch lol

I prefer to age in glass, simply because of the porosity issue. For that amount of time, you should be ok in a better bottle, but I haven't tried it to verify. I only have glass.

As for your honey question, try your lhbs.

Neat website...they have some really good prices, but I wonder about the shipping... I'll have to keep this place in mind for when I next visit NJ...perhaps I'll try and pick up some honey in person!

In regards to the OP's question...I have to say the same as avid...I only use glass for bulk aging...

You can age meads/wines in a better bottle without concern. I've kept things in them for well over 1 year with no signs of oxidation.

I've also kept a mead in a BB for over a year and did not see any oxidation.
