Agave research
Has anyone ever used agave nectar for wine/mead making? I've used it for the last few years and think it is amazing! Floral agave wines make me a very happy man.
I'm looking for documentation regarding the fermentation and sugar make-up of agave. Anyone seen any?! Thank you! Trails & Ales! -Johnny |
Well, this is what Wikipedia has to say...

sounds interesting, but I've never priced agave nectar and it might be even more expensive than local honey, which is almost impossible on my budget.

It comes from Mexico so maybe it'll be cheaper down South? I get it for $2.40 in Western Washington.

I have 1 gallon of it awaiting bottling at the moment. Your thread encouraged me to steal a taste and . . . I have to say . . . You are very right. It tastes like a cross between apple and honey . . . though I could be showing my poor sense of taste in saying such a thing . . .
Regardless . . . it's good and I plan to use it in the future in a mead or cyser. |
