Verdugo (Los Angeles)

This place is great. Not a "hot spot" yet so we it was pretty empty even though we were there on a Friday night. Great beer draft beer selection, accompanied by an impressive selection of bottled beers. I was particularly impressed by the variety of farmhouse ales available. Whoever manages their beer selection does a great job because they are all top quality craft brews.
The main area is composed of a bar with maybe 20 seats in front of it, and 6 or so small tables capable of seating 4 people each. There's an adjacent room that's more loungey that has kind of love seats/sofas and more, larger tables. There's also a large outdoor section with wooden benches and tables enclosed by an 8-foot wall.
There are two hot blonde bartenders working there that both seem pretty knowlgeable about the beers they've got on tap, and they are more than willing to give you tastings.
The music they were playing when we got there around 7-7:30ish was great, a mix of punk and rock, and at 9:00 or so a DJ came in and started playing records, which could have been bad, but turned out to be good as well.
They don't have much in the way of food. In fact, I think the only thing you can buy there is potato chips. However, this place is not far from some top notch taco stands.
Overall this is probably my favorite bar in LA. I really like Naja's because they have such a fantastic beer selection and good staff, but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired and especially on weekends it's very crowded with a very loud band playing. Verdugo, on the other hand, had more space, wasn't nearly as crowded (easy to find a table/seat), and wasn't so noisy that you had to constantly shout to hold a conversation. They don't have as large a selection as Naja's (what bar does?), but they made up for it by every selection being of such high quality. There really aren't any bad beer choices at Verdugo, whereas I have had the occasional regret at Naja's.
