Any San Diego folks out there know of Toronado? Five years in san diego and this is by far the best bar here. This is the second Toronado, the first is in SF in the Haight. They only do beer, have 300+ bottles with slight emphasis on belgian, and about 50 taps (mostly craft brews!!!)
If it's anything like the original, you've got a winner. The SF bar sits between a sausage pit and a pizzeria. You can order food from either, pay for it and they'll bring it to the bar when ready.

The one here is SD actually serves food.. they have a good selection of sausages from a local meat company... their menu is smallish (front of one page)
Once I found the Toranado in SF I could never do a trip into the city without ending up there. Happy hour 1/2 price drafts till 6PM everyday and just the most wonderful tap selection. After a couple pints bring the craft sausage in from next door. Ahhhhh nirvana in the city by the bay. If I could have afforded to live in the lower Haight district I would have been a Norm style regular there. I suppose my liver thanks my lack of means to do so.
I didn't know about the one in San Diego, what do homes cost in that neighborhood?

Actually, the north park area where Toronado is, is one of the most affordable areas in San Diego, as well the street its on 30th, is home to several of the best places to get good beer and good food in San Diego. I hear on Monday's they have $3 pint's! Have not been there on a Monday yet, so I can't confirm that.
yep, three dollar pints on mondays. it is ****ing crazy though. shoulder to shoulder. they have a patio out back though. Definately my favorite bar. In july (most up to date I can find) the median single family house price is 365,000. rent is some of the cheapest in san diego though too. plus being close to 30th. (it is apparently good enough for green flash to have a 30th street pale ale, distribution only to beer bars on 30th) Living here should be sweet for San Diego Beer Week coming up! yeah, it is a little too new still to have that old distinctive stale beer smell... give it time. I've not been to hamiltons, but have been gotten recommendations from multiple people.
