House Ales at Buffalo Brew Pub lacking

I was there Monday and I had the house Amber, the house Pale ale, and a couple Sam Adam's selections.
In case the brewmaster is around just to provide some feedback I found the house Amber too much in the way of the malt flavor and not enough hops, and the house Pale had some odd minty taste to it which hit the sides of my tongue, and it didn't have much of a bitter bite going down at all.
I didn't have the Lager or Oatmeal Stout, those are pretty solid.
That is all.
