Le Poechenellekelder
Rue Du Chêne, 5
Brussels, 1000
Belgium

This one's right outside the Mannekin Pis. What a way to end a day. Streets were quieter now and little to no tourists.

It has a significant number of beers.
Menu:

Cantillion Gueuze & Orval
Note that the Cantillon is served in the proper way as this should be stored in this angled fashion:

That's how we did Brussels in a day. The plan was to spend 2 days or more.
Hotel rates and availabilty go way up over the week and Monday and Tuesday are particularly bad. Brussels has a vibrant business and political environment which explains this problem.

Regrets. Not being able to tour Cantillon or Orval.
There were aldo two beer cuisine restaurants that were closed (Restobiers and Spinnokopke) that we'd like to have tried.

Also missed out on Bier Circus.

That's why we'll have to go back.

Some other notes:
Food and Bars - They don't go togeher like you would think. You are not going to find a burger, chicken sandwich or nachos to go with these fine beers. You will be served a small plate of cheese or sausages or nuts at no or low cost. Thay might have Lasagne or an open faced sandwich (as above). Or they may have some fru fru salad for $14 euro. Plan accordingly. You will often be drinking beers in the * to 12% range.

Het roughly equates to "The" and is often abbreviated 't

Au Bon Vieux Temps & La Becasse well done olllllo!
Bummer that ‘t Spinnekopke wasn't open. I think you would have liked that place.

I believe he was to be outfitted with a costume at the end of the month. Earlier in the day he was getting a cleaning.

hey olllllo, just bought our tickets for a trip in may, thanks for this post (and the others) it will be very helpful when we get there...

we'll be spending half our time in brussels (about 4 days) and looking for someplace to spend the rest... anyone have any experiences outside the larger cities? maybe recommend a decent countryside-type place or region

I should have similar threads for Brugge (Brujes), Antwerp and Ghent.
