I'm looking to upgrade all my plumbing to silicone tubing with quick disconnects.
My immersion chiller and heat exchanger coils are 3/8" OD, 1/4" ID copper tubing so I'm going to plumb with 3/8" ID silicone tubing.
Here are the parts I've picked out at McMaster-Carr:
Silicone Tubing (3/8" ID, 5/8" OD): 51135K37
3/8" Hose Barb to 3/8" Socket: 6739K62 (QD sockets for the tubing)
3/8" Male NPTF to 3/8" Plug: 6739K57 (QD plug for MLT and HLT ball valves)
1/2" Male NPTF to 3/8 Plug: 6739K59 (QD plug for pumps)
3/8" Female NPTF to 3/8 Plug: 6537K12 (QD plug for MLT return pipe)
The only puzzle left is figuring out how to fix a QD plug to the chiller and heat exchanger tubing. I'd really prefer a compression fitting because I don't have a propane torch. It looks like this one (50915K224) will fit the bill but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm this? Is there a better fitting or solution to get QD plugs onto the ends of the copper coils?
