wine yeast pitch temp
Planning my first batch of wine. Juice kit from midwest.
Instructions say to pitch the yeast between 65 - 70 degrees.
then to ferment between 65 - 75 degrees.
Ambient temp in my room is running 60 - 65 degrees currently. Would you look into a heat source or let her rip?
A heating belt may be a good idea, or just wait for fermenting to take longer, up to you. Get your wine around 70 degrees, then pitch it, and watch the temp with a sticker temp gauge. If it starts getting close to 60, then you may want to invest in belt. If it stays in the 63+ range, then I wouldn't worry about it.
