Default Really stupid pressure question

It's clear from all my reading that I can't carbonate wine I bottle into wine bottles because they can't handle pressure, unless i'm misunderstanding. So my question is that being the case, how come every bottle of wine I ever opened sends the cork flying through the house?

-- I literally just found my answer....that was champagne. God i feel stupid.

You are not opening it correctly???

No, seriously, only sparkling wines will "pop" a cork. Those are packaged in the correct type of bottle to handle the pressure. Regular wine is dead flat and aside from a few ounces of pressure from squeezing the cork in, there should be zero pressure in the bottle.

Yea, i figured that out. Was never much of a wine drinker, and the more i thought about it the more i remembered most of the wine i have had came in screw tops.
