Default Noob winemaker question

I have started a Vintner's Reserve Shiraz kit, and it is in secondary now. I need to leave it sit for a while while I collect bottles and find a good time to clear and bottle (I will be in and out of town for a while).
Is secondary a good place to leave it sit for an extra couple of weeks? The instructions say 5-7 days primary, 10 days secondary, add clearing stuff and top up. let sit for 14 more days.
Should I let it sit in secondary? or degass and clear and let it sit the extra time?

Make sure it's topped up and under an airlock after the ten days and add the potassium metabisulfite and you can let it sit for a year or more if you'd like and there would be no need to clear, degass, or stabilize.
