Wow, there seems to be a lot of styles to handle corks. After rinsing my bottles I reserve some of the star-san solution to put in a medium bowl along with however many corks I'll be using. I will cork the corks almost immediately. I have never had a cork fail using this method.
The steamer method sounds intriguing.
