I was thinking about making a filter system and I was wondering if anyone sees a problem with my design. I am thinking about using a whole house filter and a small food grade pump to circulate the wine throught the filter. All of the DIY systems I have seen filter the wine once into another carboy. Is there any reason why you could not just put the filter in a loop and just allow the wine to continually circulate back into the orignal carboy being filtered the whole time? My thinking is that you would rack the wine and then just turn on the pump/filter and allow the "dirty" wine to continually circulate through the filter and then once it looks clear you would just stop filtering and then bottle. Would this be overkill?
