Default Cork Types and Aging?

I will be bottling my first batch of wine soon, and was wondering if some corks are better than others for long term aging. I grabbed a bag of 9 1/2" corks from my local hbs, but I don't really have any more info than that. Any info on corks is appreciated. The wine tasted really good and I'd like to be able to hang on to a few bottles for a long time. Also, I'll be using a floor corker. Thanks

Is that #9 corks, 1.5 inches long? If so, you're probably fine. I've got some of the shelf that is 9 years old with the agglomerated, low end corks. They are holding well. Of course on their sides to keep them wet.

I will only say that I"ve had 50/50 luck with synthetic corks. some were fine that looked like rubber, while others just popped out on their own after a few days.

I mostly buy #8's and those held up for 10 years on mead, not even stored on its side. wouldn't advise that though..i just got lucky.

yeah, they are #9 1.5" Do the #9 1.75" corks offer any advantage over the one and a half inch?
