I've always been curious if wine needs to "breathe" through the corks in order to age/mature. If so, then do foils/PVC Bottle Seals inhibit that? What about resin or other non-cork closures? Thanks in advance for your input!
Most wines are aged on there sides to keep the cork moist and prevent air from entering the bottle and oxidizing. I'm not much of a wine drinker but this is what I remember from the winery tours.
