Default Question on Forum Rules - Affiliate Links

I'm working on a build list for the free software I'm offering in my sig. I'd like to link to recommended parts on Amazon. However, this begs the question:

Am I allowed to have an affiliate ID in my link? Does this violate forum rules?

Can't seem to find anything on this. Thanks in advance.

If you're advertising for Amazon, then you definitely need to be a vendor.

If the "affiliate" business is cutting you a share of their profit for forum mentions/click-throughs, please discuss the situation with the site admin (TxBrew) for clarification on advertising.

If you're simply recommending good places to buy parts for an open source project, then there's no problem.

Also, please keep the parts links in dedicated project threads rather than listing them in your signature. We prefer signatures be no longer than about 5-6 lines such that they don't become more prominent than any given discussion at hand. I realize there are some ugly sigs out there - we try...

I don't work for Amazon.

This is the situation I was attempting to ask about.

~4% for a click-thru if the purchase goes thru.

Nah, little more than this.

Right, meant to say I'd be posting it in the project thread mentioned in my sig. Not that I'd post links to Amazon in my sig.
