Default Can the "Thread" field width be shortened?

I think the column for posting topics is too wide. If shortened, more columns of info would be visible to those of us using smart-phones to view the full site.

I believe the general "look" of the forum would be improved when viewed on a computer by having less empty space. The occasional long subject wrapping over is much nicer in my opinion.

I think the column widths present a very nice, legible page. What do you find objectionable? Is the issue perhaps phone/browser-specific?

On a computer, that particular column grows and shrinks more than the others as you change the window width. Again, it appears neat and legible to me.

Here's a screenshot from my iPhone:

Yeah my android does auto fit so the thread posts are always exactly the right size.

Why not use the hbt app?

I don't come here nearly as much as I used to or read as much when I do because the text field is just way too wide for comfortable reading. This has been brought up and ignored before.

The problem seems to be phone specific it spite of my having "auto fit" set.

It is better with open in "overview " selected.

As for the HBT app... I like it as much as any other mobile app.

I don't have a smartphone, but I have a netbook. It's perfect for travel for me. BUT I don't like browsing this forum with it as I have windows 7 starter, which means I can't change the display. And it's way too wide for me to read even one post without scrolling left to right. I can't see the text in the post and the person's name who posted at the same time.

It drives me crazy, so I just don't use this forum with my netbook. However, when I'm gone to Texas for two months, I will miss it! I'd like it if it could somehow be adjusted when it's too wide!

Yoop have you tried another browser like firefox? I'm looking at getting a netbook (with a 12 inch rather than a 10.1" screen) I didn't realize viewing hbt would be an issue, since it's not with a regular laptop. I thought the netbooks just fit everything in but smaller.

Yeah, actually, I"m using Firefox now. I've not tried Chrome, and IE is marginally better. I can attach a screen shot if someone reminds me how to do it!

The "thread" field is so wide (great for desktops or my regular laptop) that I can't see the whole area to even read one post!

Holy smokes! It just "fixed"!!!!!! I opened IE and I can read my own post just above. Weird!!!!!!! Or, thanks Tx. Either way, I'm happy now!

Edit- it's stiil ginormus in Firefox and the browser wont let me fix it. But IE suddenly "fit" all at once.
