Homebrew at Community/Charity events

Does anyone know if it's legal to give away homebrew at a charity event, fully understanding no money changes hands? I was asked recently about providing some brew at an animal rescue event and had no idea whether it's permissible. I'm located in MA. Any help appreciated.
