Someone on the AHA board said they were really accepting categories 20-23 and that was buried in the rules or FAQ somewhere. I haven't verified that myself.

okay what is category 23? I see you have to list your beer as either ale or a lager so maybe.... As far as entering do they rate all beers submitted as it would be interesting hearing what a judge thinks of your beer.

They have got so many good beers the last few years that dont fit a style profile that the decision was made to open it up to specialty beers.

The trend (beer market) is towards that anyway.
