I'd love to participate. I have yet to do a contest and feel I am just starting to make some beers that are suitable to be judged. I know this type of thing is a lot of work, but I think making this annual would be awesome

It'll be in the midwest, by a team of BJCP judges. It's sort of a secret, so you don't put undue pressure on the lead organizer (who is a member of HBT). When you register, you'll be given a "ship to" address and I will be the contact person for registration and prize awards.
By the way, we already have a few sponsors, even though no date has been officially set.
We've got something big from Brewmaster's Warehouse again. We've got a 12 inch false bottom from Jaybird, and a selection of specialty grains from Briess. There's five copies of Beersmith, a personalized mash paddle (DeepSea), and a $100 gift certificate to Brewer's Hardware ( http://www.brewershardware.com/). One lucky winner will get a custom logo from BrewBrandCreative. There are two $20 for austinhomebrew.com. I'm still working on more prizes, and when we get a complete list, it will be posted right away.
When we have the details (date and registration info) hammered out, you guys will be the first to know!

So the entries don't go to you? For some reason I thought they did. That's a shame since I was going to throw in a couple extra bottles for ya.

Haha- nope. No point in bribing me- I'm not a judge in these comps. I will just handle registration, entries, IDs, labels, etc.

Great! Looking foward to the results. Still not sure if I will enter since I am only a first year brewer but would like to see the winning recipe's regardless.

Oh, I knew you weren't a judge so it wasn't meant as a bribe. Just a thanks for all the work you do getting the comp going.

I'm sure Yooper won't mind a little appreciation offering!
And to anyone else out there on the fence about this contest... DO IT!
For one, even if you think you have no chance of winning, it's completely worth it to hear an experts opinion about your beer. And for second, there is still a chance of winning.
But last year the spots got grabbed up real quick, so be ready to sign up for premium and get to the front of the line, or fight the masses for the remaining spots.
Those prizes already look very sweet! I'd like to say I'm only in it for the feedback again this year, but I must admit I'm feeling a little greedy all of a sudden!

+1 I hadn't been brewing much more than a year when this came up last year and I'd never entered a comp before. I went ahead and entered one beer just to get some feedback and I ended up winning the American Ales category (prize was a full kegging system! Thanks Austin Homebrew!) and finished second in the BOS round! So, don't think you have to wait until you're an "expert" before you do something like this. If YOU think your beer is good, or if you want some expert feedback on it, do it!
