Yeah, if premium members get any sort of advantage, I'm out. I don't need to pay to be part of a silly internet club for any reason, and if it makes it easier for them, well... that's dumb.

Paying members didn't get any advantage in judging or anything. They were just given the first chance to enter.

what would be the purpose of giving a paying member an advantage? Those of us who are paying members want to know how are beer stands up against others just as much as non-paying members...
As far as our "silly internet club", obviously it's not that silly if you are here and receiving/contributing to the wealth of knowledge accessible. Paying members largely believe this site is a good thing. We support it monetarily, you don't have to do that, it's your choice, but don't think for a second that we regard nonpaying members as lesser contributors - good knowledge and ideas are good regardless of from where they originate.
Remember - your potential award winning beer recipe may be my next "favorite" beer to brew....

Ah, that was it. I knew there was something but couldn't remember. TY Chshre. IIRC, it filled up very fast.
FWIW, the scoresheets I got from last years HBT comp were some of the BEST filled-out scoresheets I've ever seen. Very thorough.
EDIT: While it's easy for us to say: "Hell yea, I'm in!"; it ends up being a ginormous undertaking for somebody not to mention all the great prizes that were donated by site vendors. So if something were required to at least compensate those that do all the competition 'work', that'd be fine by me.

Besides, the sign of a great brewer here isn't how much money you've contributed...
...it's how much of a post whore you are.

Hmmm, 2 bottles last time huh?
I've only got one brew remaining worthy of a competition but I only have 5 total bottles. It's either this or NHC for that brew...
Hell, I'd probably do this one and brew something else for the next NHC...

I see a couple people saying they don't have anything ready to enter. We got a pretty good advanced window last year so we could get some brews in the pipeline. I'm guessing if they can bring it together again this year it would be an October kinda thing. September would be to hectic with many members looking towards GABF in Sept. That would leave a good 8-10 week window to brew entries. Just my guess.
