I can make a cider pickup as well, since I'm in the Frederick area. Hosting at my house would not be an option though, T-2 months until the baby arrives and after that, well let's just say brew day and an infant won't mix very well.

Hey stefin did you know Hay's sells by the Drum (55 gal) as well. Of course we would not be able to unload it by hand, heck I don't know how to load it in the truck even, its a house you pickup from not a building with loading dock.

just got off the phone with Lord Byron's in Thurmont. Nice guy, mead maker as well. Doesn't generally deal with individuals but he said he has a decent inventory right now so he can. I should have a quote from him by Wed of next week for 600# of honey in buckets. He said he sells by the # and only fills the buckets to 50# to make them easier to carry.

Edit: Lord Byron just called back, $2.35 per lb, it's "light honey", mixture of clover and starthistle honeys. He said he also has wildflower available but did not recommend it for mead because wildflower by definition is from some unknown sources and can vary greatly from batch to batch. 2 weeks notice required for pickup.

Wow. That's kind of overpriced and weak sauce. I use wildflower exclusively, I don't know what he's bitching about.

Normally I get a 60# bucket filled to about 70# for $117.

What's the dilly with Hays?

Meh...I've used wildflower in all my meads, except the ones that failed due to oxidation.

If the honey tastes good, the mead will taste good.

As for the Graff -- I got ingredients last night to make 10g of this.

Talked to Hay's they need 4 days notice roughly. 120 per 60# bucket (they are always heavier). Clover and wildflower available.
