How do I find and enter a competition?
|
|
I think I've finaly brewed a couple of competition worthy beers but have no idea how to go about finding or entering one.
I took some samples of my Pale to the brewers at some local brewpubs and to one of the assistant brewers at Boulevard and they all loved it. I am now very excited and anxious to get into some comps. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at the competition list on bjcp.org
You might also check any local county fairs, they sometimes have them
Ediit: Here is the direct link to the list http://www.bjcp.org/apps/comp_schedule/competition_schedule.php

Bummer, no competitions close to Missouri. I was going to enter a competition at some point too.

Thanks for the link. I'm hoping some of these take "outside" entries.

I haven't submitted any of mine to comps. but I find that most of them do accept outside entries

No kidding. I'm in Branson. The easiest one to go to would be Tulsa.

Almost every comp will accept entries from anywhere shipped via UPS or fedex. Most organizers want to get as many entries as possible so unless theres a legit reason to limit it to a geographic area its open to the world.
Though if you are shipping entries I'd try to stay within a few states of you to keep shipping costs down.

Also check with local brewing clubs and state and county fairs.
