Default HBT Homebrew Competition...So Bummed Out!

I'm really dissappointed that because so many people complained about the rules the whole competition has been placed on hold. I don't personally see what the big deal is. They are offering us an oppurtunity to have our beers judged and even possibly win some recognition or a prize. We should be thankful they are even doing this for such a large group of people.
I was really looking forward to this so I hope they decide to ignore the whiners and just go ahead with the competition.

+10000

Yooper worked her ass off putting the comp on last year. Yet she was willing to work what little bit was left off for us again and all people could do was bitch and whine about who would get the best prizes and how it would be judged.

I hope this thing can still happen, but I don't blame Yooper a bit for feeling under appreciated at the moment. This is supposed to be fun. I don't care if they drag in a wino off the street to judge and offer a half eaten happy meal for the prize.

Her comp, her rules. If you don't like it? Don't enter.

Yeah, It would have been my first comp. I guess I'll take that thread off my "subscribed list"

I know some people are disappointed, but we're still in conversation about how to fix it to make it more equitable. Please don't resort to namecalling and complaints, as we are still working on it and want it to be fun and informative for everyone.

I especially value the input and constructive criticism, and am not blaming anyone for the delay. We're still trying to make it happen, and I'll be sure to let everyone know as soon as we have it ironed out. I consider KingBrian a friend of mine, and know that he wasn't personal in any criticism, and I didn't take it that way. Please don't make any of these issues personal, as they are not. I like and respect Brian and AnOldUR (if anyone thinks that he was negative- I don't!) and consider them friends of mine. No one should be called out as an impediment, as they are not. There were some questions that I wasn't prepared to argue and so we're in discussions on how to revamp if necessary. We may or may not revamp- but we're discussing it.

In the meantime, there are always competitions listed on the BJCP list, and I would encourage everyone to check it out and enter the ones you'd like. The best competitions have great scoresheets and helpful evaluation of your beer, so that you can improve as a brewer.

Yes, but those competitions have a bunch of strangers in them. It's so much better to beat the people we know on here!
