+1! It costs a bloody fortune to ship across Canada but at least there are no customs hurdles.

Even though I'm a new brewer, I plan on entering my first-ever recipe (that I got help with here) for the same reason I'm entering Sam Adam's Longshot contest. To get the comment cards back, and make my "staple" brew even better. Maybe I'll try and figure out a second beer that I have in my mind to create and enter that.
This post makes me happy to give Brewmaster's Warehouse my business. I bought the ingredients for my first recipe from them, and I can tell you that I'll be buying the ingredients for the contest winning beer (ha, ha) from them as well!

You could aways ship via the bus......... and hope it gets there. lol
Canada post probably wouldn't be to bad. What pisses me off is that us mortals can't ship "expedited" only regular and express. Only business accounts can ship expedited (splits the diff between ground and express).

Not that you two aren't worth it (!) but we'd need a few more to make it a contest. Maybe roust up your fellow countrymen and see if they'd want to be a part of the contest. At the very least, you'd get some ribbons if not better prizes, and you'd get your score sheets back with the judge's comments.

We come from a long line of booze smugglers. If the Canada contest doesn't happen, well get our beers down south one way or another.
Booze smuggling to the USA, part of out Canadian heritage.

For those shipping from Canada, you might want to check in the Edmonton Homebrewers Guild. I'm not saying I know anything, but hear tell they have entered U.S. competitions before.

FlyGuy posted a description of what he has had to do to get beer into the US in this group post. Seems like a pretty big hurdle.
For any Canadians reading this that haven't seen the complimentary thread, we are gauging interest in a Canadian version of this competition so we don't have to deal with the border hassles. The thread is here.

Great! I was about to order some grain, and now I know who gets my business this time. Thanks, Brewmaster's Warehouse (or is that BmW?)

They guys from the EHG are lucky -- they have an 'inside man' with the shipping industry. It has worked well for them.
My experience has been that the express courier companies in Canada are FAR more strict about the rules than US Customs. [wink!]

Just right "Handguns and Ammo" on the box and you should have not trouble shipping into the US.
