Ok... First of all... The only thing accurate in your OP is when you stated that you were in California.

And I can't brew at your place... natural gas... plumbed into the house... my rig ain't mobil. I'm brewing at my place... and we're going to brew at your place and then transport a 60 gallon barrel, to my place, through the house, down the stairs and into the cellar??

In terms of the recipe... I don't see a 1060 gettin' this done. If you're going to put something, anything, in a barrel for freakin' 12-18 months (although Consecration in only 6), I'm not going to make it a freakin' 5.8%.... c'mon... You're talking about making a little blueberry pale that's sour.

That's not what I'm thinking... I'm thinking something like a nice dark quad... soured... with some acidity picked up from the barrel and then countered a little with some sort of fruiot addition like currants (which Consecration uses) or blood oranges.

I don't like cherries... it always ends up tasting like freakin cough medicine, especially at the higher gravity. Currants would be good but that's too much of a Consecration clone in my book.

I'm in for 5-10 gallons of this if we can come to agreement on the fruits. Currents are good. What about raisins? A bigger beer would also be nice. I like the idea of a quad.

I tried an oaked quad this weekend that was brewed by Weyerbacher. It was really good.

But I figured that if I suggested we brew there your remaining pooch would develop renal failure or sumptin' and I've already been dragged to the principals office once. And stop making fun of my support hose. My varicose veins have improved dramatically since I started wearing them. And not for nuttin but since I started on the Flowmax the laundry bill has gone down a sheetload.

Yeah, we'll see who else is going to brew and we'll ask them their opinion on the fruit.

Currants and Elderberries? I'm not horribly opposed but given the sour and the acidity, I think we need something a little more sweet/citrus to counter it a bit.

Can't make it to the EAC... SWMBO is workin' round the clock at work (literally) for the next week or so... so I'm single-dad for that time. Something tells me the boys having to drive home from the EAC will need to nothing but bad things.

So... are you going to work on putting together a recipe that doesn't suck or should I??
