Beehive Brew Off

Any of my fellow Utah HBT members enter this? I had fully intended to enter last year but chickened out. This year I entered 4 beers. My first beer comp.

Woot, took 1st in the English Pale Ale category!

Very happy with all my entries. Feel like I have a clear direction to go on with each beer. No off-flavors noted on any of my entries.

Took 3rd in the Saison category, first entry as well. Was going for RIS, but that got beat up! :)

Makes me want to brew more!!!

Good luck to my fellow Utah brewers with entries in this year's brew-off. I planned to enter more beers but ended up only entering two, both in category 8, a Best Bitter and an ESB.

I didn't have anything ready this year. Besides, my Amber ended up just outside of style for OG & ABV.

About the only thing I could have entered was a dessert cyser.

I entered 2 as well...APA and a smoked beer...good luck to all!!!

It is so hard to tell OG and ABV that I never let that stop me. IBUs, FG/mouthfeel, and SRM are killers, but with OG and ABV there's practically no way to tell if it's right on the edge or just outside style.

At one competition that I stewarded, there was exactly one real American Pale Ale in the flight. If there was someone else close to style, it would have gotten 2nd. I've also seen a 41 come in 5th. You can never know.
