Default A word of caution when posting: Your Personal Information

I have over the years on this forum become more and more transparent about the things going on in my life, where I live, and meeting members as I travel. This includes pictures, wife's name, area I live in, general occupational things, places I will be, etc. I have seen others do this as well.

I think that it's testament to this site that people feel comfortable here and do these things as naturally as they do in real life, however you should be aware of what you might be posting.

I've noticed people posting things that can personally identify themselves IRL in conjunction with medical condition information, legal matters, ethical matters, etc.

All of these things are crawled by google, yahoo, et al.

If you are a supporting member, there are areas that you can post in that are behind a search engine wall. That's something that you should take advantage of if you are a supporting member and something to consider if you are not.

I've also seen post where people discuss in the open areas of the forum and in the chat, items that were specifically posted in Member section for a reason. I know it's difficult to keep it straight sometimes, but let's try to be more aware about this type of thing, please.

Excellent advice. Can I also add that if you happen to see something that might fall into this category that you PM the poster or let a mod know ASAP, so that it can be addressed?

Just for fun, google yourself. Full name. see what pops up.

Then, google your screen name used in forums. You'll be suprised.

Caution- Don't mention bottling brunette in HBT, when you have red head over on weekends.

Then, hurry up and joing so you can edit and delete posts.

Oh boy - Desert Monkey is a UK grunge metal band....

Thanks for posting this up olllllo - having a job where I see the internal workings of credit card fraud, people can never be careful enough out in cyberspace.

Good bump.
