I tend to wait since it just came out, I am careful about the so-called patches too. .XP pATCHES windows took me down. that would be the patch that took many of us out. thought it was called Vesta, my bad.

I just installed XP (after wiping the HD and Windows 2000) on my 3+yr old laptop a few months ago, don't see Vista happening anytime soon

Mac OS X on a 24" iMac on an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 GHz w/2 gigs of RAM and a GeForce 7600 GT. I'm happy with the other side for now.

My work machine is a mirror image of my Mac hardware-wise, but it's a PC and I'm running XP only because my employer won't shell out for Vista. XP suits me fine.

Yeah, yeah...I know so many have Macs, others wont upgrade cause its new, all kinds of people hate Microsoft, etc... And thats fine with me. I just wanted to know from any of the people out there who had already installed it to see if anyone had an easy time of it.

I havent liked a Microsoft OS since Windows 95. To me that was the last one that worked without problems. 98 sucked, 2000 wasnt any better, and XP drove me completely crazy with screen freezes, programs not respondng, erroring out all the time, and on and on, etc... And not just my own, but a lot of other people I know as well. (I know... I know... I should have went with a Mac a long time ago. But I guess Im just a glutton for PC punishment.)

Anyway, I had too many problems with my XP SP2, and decided to get Vista. Anything had to be better... Well, it definately didnt go smooth, and isnt over yet. After reinstalling every driver known to man, everything is 3/4 of the way there. Unfortunately, now I need more RAM, a new graphics card and a new sound card. Geez...

aekdbbop, I see where you are coming from, as so many people are complaining about needing to upgrade basically their entire computer, other than my processor and hard drive. I would reinstall XP if I didnt hate it so much.

I'm still at W2000 on the laptop. I doubt it could run XP. I've had a few conversations with IT types & they aren't happy with Vista. Too much of a resource hog. One guy said less than 15% of his company's computer can run it at all, but people whine about getting it, then whine because it's slow or their porn was wiped out by the upgrade. He said they canned three salesmen on the latter.
