True. I can get to 500rpm with a 1.5" and a 14" sheave but, I also want to imrove my crush. With a drill I can get a decent 65%-75% efficiency running it at a relatively fast speed. I'd say a speed of 1pd/3sec (approx).
But, when I hand crank (60-100rpm) my efficiency jumps to 80 or better.
I deally I'd like to motorize to 100rpm max.
I still have a 17lb thrustt DC trolling motor that I'll have to inspect closer. I haven;t been able to trace down any specs on that motor to know what the RPM ranges are. Mebe I can dissect it and get to the lower rpm's with still plenty of torque to not sieze the mill. If instead of direct coupling I go with sheaves and a belt I can prolly still do this without chancing trashing the motor or mill. Since the belt will slip if the mill locks up.
I was just hoping to plug this thing in, flip a switch, fill the hopper, and let it go.
With the TM it has a variable speed controller but, I;d either have to lug a battery and keep it charged or devise a way to hook this up to a charger for constant power.
I just wish it were warmer out so it'd be easier to tinker in the garage.
