I get two (3-pass shaves) from a feather, four or five shaves from an asco or shark blade. Personally I like the shave I get from the shark blades as well as how long they last

I'm on a carryon only type of vacation, so I'm temporarily shaving with cartridges and some shave secret. excellent results. Not exactly wet shaving I spose but very good.
If I had to go back to cartridges, at least I could forego the goopinacan.

I have two of those Shea moisture brushes and while it is not a plisson they work really well for the price. I also have a couple omega boars that have served me well too. I think for Christmas I might get a Simpsons chubby.

Hey Phil you probably already know but those Palmolive shave sticks are truly amazing. I keep my shave stick in a unmarked pill container, and also keep my brush in a larger pill container. Works for me in my gym bag, I use it 3 times a week.

Still shaving with my Merkur 34C and loving it. Trying various blades. I definitely do *not* like the Sharp brand. The Astras are pretty nice, and surprisingly, the Dorco blades that came free with the razor are really good on my face.
I just refinished the brush I made, since the original finish lasted exactly one shave I'm going to see how the CA (cyanoacrylate) finish holds up to shaving. Looks good to start!

Your brush looks real nice! The CA finish looks great when its done right, but I have a habit of sanding and polishing right through the finish. I really, really want to find an Ever Ready 500 in cream and green for a resto project. But I might just get the green pearl acrylic blank along with the knot from TGN, make the whole brush myself and be done with it.

Bought a sample pack of blades and want some opinions; my razor came with a Merkur platinum coated razor or something like that, which seemed pretty good; very happy with it. However, I can't seem to find any that are even near a reasonable price!
The pack has in it:
5x Astra superior platinum
5x wilkinson sword
5x derby extra 'super stainless'
10x Super-max stainless (looks like a cheap brand)
I'll probably go through most of them; but are there any that you'd A) Recommend or B) Recommend that I don't put anywhere near my face?

I didn't care for the Merkur blade. I like the swords and can buy them locally for pretty cheap. I've been satisfied enough to not look at other blades right now.

I like Shark and Shark Chrome best for the money. I can get Wilkinson Swords cheaply enough locally but I don't care as much for the shave. A lot of personna blades shave decent but then I go back to a Shark and I'm just happier with them. Buying blades ahundred at a time helps
