Default Week in Ireland

Spending a week in Ireland starting this Saturday.
Dublin, Kinsale and Galway are on the Itinerary.

I'll try to do beer related posts.

Anyone know the internet cafe situation? Is it worth bringing a wireless laptop? Voltage converter is not a problem, just want to know the coverage and aproximate rates.

I bought a pay as you go GSM phone. I'll let you know how that goes.

ETA: And no, I didn't buy it from our spamming friend.

That's bad timing olllllo as our longest serving Dublin Correspondent - kenmc - is on his World Tour and is still in New Zealand as of last Wednesday, he's not due back until Christmas.
I'm sure you'll find a few internet cafes but don't spend time looking - ask at the places you stay for local knowledge of any close ones. Take a laptop if you have one but I wouldn't bother with connecting wireless unless you really need to - I can't comment on Eire prices but in the UK it's expensive. Just write up any notes as a quick diary for yourself and take photos. Post them when you get back.
More importantly just enjoy your holiday!!!!

This forum is like a little holiday every day.

I'll have to log in under the guise (for SWMB's sake) of sending our vacation photos to our flickr account for safe keeping.

I second the cliffs...didn't really care for Bunratty, but there are more castles than you can shake a stick at in Ireland.

IMO, the best thing to do is find a pub in a small town and get soused with the locals.

Ay, Bajeezeus,

A pint of Guinness, a pint of Smithwicks, and a pint of Scrappy Jacks. Perhaps a mug or two of Bunratty Mead. Hmmm good.

Wireless Internet is all over Ireland. The only issue I has was when their access points were set to channel 13 (channel 13 does not exist on American hardware so you cannot access it).

Cliffs of Moher are a definate MUST See. Be careful if you are driving, cause they drive on the wrong side of the road.

All this Irish talk reminds me of an Irish joke.

An Irish woman of advanced age visited her physician to ask his help in reviving her husband's libido.

"What about trying Viagra? asks the doctor.

"Not a chance," she said. "He won't even take an aspirin."

"Not a problem," replied the doctor. "Give him an Irish Viagra. Drop it into his coffee. He won't even
taste it. Give it a try and call me in a week to let me know how things went."

It wasn't a week later that she called the doctor, who directly inquired as to progress. The poor dear exclaimed, "Oh, faith, bejaysus and begorrah! T'was horrid. Just terrible, doctor!"

"Really... what happened?" asked the doctor.

"Well, I did as you advised and slipped it in his coffee. The effect was almost immediate. He jumped straight up with a twinkle in his eye and with his pants a-bulging fiercely!

"With one swoop of his arm, he sent the cups and tablecloth flying, ripped me clothes to tatters and took me then and there, making wild, mad, passionate love to me on the tabletop! It was a nightmare, I tell you, an absolute nightmare!"

"Why so terrible?" asked the doctor. "Do you mean the sex your husband provided wasn't good?"

"Oh, no, no, no, Doctor. The sex was fine indeed! Twas the best sex I've had in 25 years! But sure as I'm sittin' here, I'll never be able to show me face in Starbucks again!"
