Default Two Week Notice....

Well, I'm pulling a Cheese. Tonight I'll be drafting up a two week notice letter to my employer, brining an end to my 8 year stint drawing prisons, college dorms and police stations on lower State Street.

The short story:

Three years ago, 28 employee architectural firm, $150+ million in project annually for 5 years. CEO and Vice retire.

Three years, no raises, no reviews, no direction from the guys who were supposed to step up and carry the torch for the company. Benefits rolled back, no contributions to profit sharing, employees laid off, general office malaise setting in.

Now? 8 employees (with 4 principals....who refuse to take pay cuts), haven't got a million dollar project in 8 months, in-fighting w/ principlas, clients no re-hiring for jobs that used to be slam-dunks.

I got the call today from my top-ranked option - a high-profile, design-oriented firm in Brattle Square in Cambridge. They even offered me 5 grand more than I was looking for!!! Mad benefits, great location, summer hours, bi-annual performance bonuses, better pay - I'm f*ing pumped! I'm most happy, though, about my new, narrower job description - Job Captain. At my current job, I do all the IT, all the CAD management, all the drawing, all the low/mid-level office management (telecom, supplies, blah, blah). The small company jack-of-all-trades to the big company, focus on your "real" job thing is going to be exciting.

Now, On to the Pub to celebrate, then on to home to write the damn letter!!!! Wish me luck!!!!

You can't see this, but ...

Imagine a short bar just above your head. Grab the bar. Pull shield down over face.

Eject!!!!!!!

Man, oh man, you hit the jackpot there! Reason enough to celebrate! Congrats on your good fortune. More $$$ and less putting out fires around the office!

Yep, congrats! How the F does a company pull in $150m annual with 28 people and F that up so badly? No mind that's the past and now look forward to the future!
