Sagan really was a genius. His material connects with people that are far below his level of understanding, but he never comes off as condescending. Then again, there are so many people who still think humans and the earth is somehow significant on a universal scale. I just don't get that.

I've been watching the Cosmos series lately, and although it is a little dated it is so far from being out-of-date. Really amazing stuff.

When Sagan's Cosmos series is mentioned, I really have bad memories.
I was taking the video course in College in our Library as an elective and I'm sitting there watching it and the guy next to me somehow tuned in the local news and says "the Shuttle just blew up". It was Columbia. Just one of those moments that you never forget. One of these days (before the program is revamped) I want to go and expeirence a shuttle launch.

none of that could ever happen on some other pale blue dot....
as for the movies, I've seen 25 of those and there was only 1 I didn't like. (eternal sunshine)
