Default Scum-bag Michael Vick Indicted for Dog Fighting

This looks bad for Vick. Hopefully the NFL suspends him for a LONG time

This has been news around here for a while. I live in the same county where this 'allegedly' occurred. It's really sad. His younger brother isn't any better.

Unfortunately most major professional sports are dominated by hoodlums that provide less than stellar role models for kids. People like this shouldn't ever be allowed to get to that level in the first place. Sadly the dollar speaks louder.

Yeah...it's been tough with these Vick boys...I was in school at VT when Micheal had his short-lived college career. Went to pretty much every home game of his. I've always tried to support the Vick boys and give them the benefit of the doubt, but...first Marcus, then this.

I'm still giving him the benefit of the doubt until he's proven guilty (I've heard that he didn't know anything about it, just a bunch of ghetto redneck friends using his house, but I don't know whether that's true or not). But, yeah, doesn't look good. And if he was involved, then he should just be kicked the hell out of the league. There's no excuse for the evil sh*t that they did to those dogs. As punishment, whoever is convicted should be tied up and let the dogs loose on them.

Yep. It looks like he'll be spending time in the Greybar Hotel when it's all over. His image should have taken a bigger hit when he arrived at an airport recently with that water bottle with the flase bottom. What a moron. It'll taken a definite hit now! Not to mention, he's one of the most overrated QBs in the NFL.

If kids are looking to the N.f. fu*cking L. for their role models, then I'd have to question what the hell is wrong with their parents. Yes, the dollar speaks louder, but often, it's that same "dollar" that makes the kids look up to these doofuses in the first place. If Michael Vick was making $50k/year, he wouldn't be anyone's hero.

For kids, it's not usually the money, it's the job. Even before pro athletes were making big bucks, they were still heros to children. There is a level of responsibility that comes with that that many athletes just don't understand.

Well, before pro athletes were making alot of money, kids back then weren't as obsessed with being rich. Not all kids, mind you, but I honestly don't think that these guys would be looked up to like they are if they didn't make the millions of dollars. Times have definitely changed. And that's not to say that kids think that Bill Gates is their hero---at least, not the ones I know---but kids want to be like these guys at least in part because of the lifestyle that their salary affords them.

Here's the thing....

The way that they were describing how they would execute the dogs? Water them down and electrocute them? Hang them? Drown them?

As my wife commented, that's sociopathic. There is absolutely no way that any reasonable human, under any circumstances, could reasonably view and appropriate way of putting down an animal as to get it wet and electrocute it. Putting a bullet between the eyes, that's horrific enough; killing an animal in such a way that you're going to watch it suffer.... when you KNOW that everyone there was packing and could have put it down quickly... that's even above and beyond the inherent inhumanity of dogfighting itself.

If he's convicted of being involved in this, you've got to be looking at a lifetime ban (if he's not in Federal prison for years, as I would hope he would be).

We adopted a pitbull mix about 2 years ago from a shelter in Austin. She has a scar on top of her head and is scared of everything.

I'm not saying that she deffinatly went through dog fighting or anything but people treat pitbulls really badly and deffinatly does not help their image.

Lilly is the sweetest dog ever and almost never barks. When we have friends over for the first time they are almost always scared of her but then after a half hour or so she's laying in their lap...

Bird don't you have a pitbull mix?

Oh, and yeah the worst part is deffinatly the executions....jesus thats insane

Yeah, I've got a big pit/lab mix. We adopted him fairly young (~4 months), so I don't think he came from a bad situation. There were definately pits at the shelter, though, that had been abused, that came from really tough environments (we adopted him from a town where there's a significant amount of drug use and related crime).
