Revvy, sorry if my post come off offensive or negative in any other way. im a member on about 50 different forums for about 20 different hobbies i have been into over the last couple years and on most forums the best way to get involved is to start posting and making new threads. i have spent roughly the last week reading through these boards and thought it was about time to start posting. i was just looking to get a little insight on assumptions on home brewing here and some interesting laughs on the stories thread. i have read through a bunch of posts but thought maybe a thread with a bunch of interesting stories would be fun to read through instead of searching thread after thread.

sorry if this thread came off negatively, i am now gaining a better feel for HBT.

No problem, but don't try so hard...but many of us PREFER that you search and enter in an established thread rather than starting a new on, part of it doesn't have to do with these types of threads so much as the "are my beer ruined" threads we deal with a hundred times a day...5 minutes searching and the poster would easily find the answer to their question answered fifty times.

We are a Huuuge forum and therefore just about every idea has been brought up in one way or another.

My issue (and it is mine) is with the idea of assumptions and stereotypes of every kind...I have to deal with it on a daily basis, especially being single and looking for a partner...as you can see there's many sides to me and to pigeon hole me into any box just doesn't work...I could tell you stories about being a minister and dating (even though I am not actively doing ministry right now, I still AM one)...I've written a couple of Rants on my myspace page about this very topic...

Myspace.com Blogs - Being Real - Michael MySpace Blog

Or this,

Myspace.com Blogs - The "M" Word.... - Michael MySpace Blog

I think they might work...

Or you could just do like some of us and post silly tripe. Then you'll become known as a post-whore, develop a rep and people will just think you were the kid who wore a helmet on the short bus and automatically be nice to you.

Worked for me.

And welcome.

belive me when i say i understand the stereotype/assumption thing, i also hate when its in your face in a negative way. my original post was intended to be more of a light hearted football and homebrew is better than nascar and bud joke than anything else.

back on the stereotype, i worked at a convenient store my last year of high school and a couple years into college as i worked on my electrical engineering degree. i used to get so pissed when dumbasses talked down to me just because i was behind the counter of a gas station. i guess they didnt realize that even though i was behind that counter 35-40 hours a week i was also taking 16-18 credits as well!

This is me blushing.

I will brew again, soon. Got some extra cash laying around. Going to get two started in the next couple of weeks.

Yay for me.

And I hate NASCAR but love football.

I know that one to a t!!!

I was living in West Palm Beach in 03 with my then fiance and in the process of starting a church in a suburb there. To help pay the bills I worked in a Radio Shack in Boca Raton part time. I can honestly say that I had never been treated so poorly and "servant like" by people down there (especially the "hoity toity" New York retirees and snow birds). Here I was a 40 year old guy with a master's in divinity and pastoring a start up church and being called "boy" by some biddy who wanted someone to change the batteries in her tv remote and didn't want to wait in line like the 5 customers ahead of her...
