Name your favorite Beer styles and why
|
|
Ok I will start-
Double IPAs or IIPAs
Why- they grab your toung and start attacking while hiding some of the higher alc. By the time your done drinking a pint all other beers taste like water and your hitting on anything female.
Belgian Tripels-
Light yet very fruity- These will punch you in the face and leave you wondering why you are sleeping on the floor...... in the hallway.
Hefes-
Great beer with food- Friends and ladies love them. First beer I introduced my wife too.
Reds-
Oh sweet reds! I love thy malty goodness. Like redheads- I will always have a sweetspot in my heart/liver for reds.

English Pale Ales, especially of the bitter variety
I like a "balanced" beer with clean malty notes but not that tastes like you're sucking on extract syrup. A decently strong hop flavor that shines through but compliments the malt... Mmmm.
I like english ales in comparison to most american ones because they're "heavier" which for me is just easier to drink. High carbonation or light body has to be forced down.
Hefe
I LOVE a good hefe with strong banana (not fond of the clove) notes but I hate MAKING hefes beause I pretty much hate blow-off tubes now.
American Pale Ale
Done "right" I LOVE a beer with a crisp citrus flavor. While english ales are great for drinking and feeling "social", a citrus-infused beer is one of the most refreshing things you can down.

I love IIPAs, too. But I don't hit on anything female when I drink them. I guess I just haven't had the right kind.
IPAs are my all-time favorite. Burst of flavors you can drink all night.

My favorite style, singular, is probably American Pale Ale. I love the balanced, quenching, slightly citric character. It may be boring or cliche but there's a reason its so commonly praised...

APA have great flavor and bittering. There's taste there, but it isn't filling. I could drink APAs for hours.

Porters in the Winter, although the occassional Oatmeal stout or Belgian dark ale really hits the spot on a cold snowy day.
Pilsners in the Summer. Clean and crisp with a nice bitterness that is easy to drink a fair bit of. After that a good IPA is nice for a change up, but it is not a style I want to sit and have 6 pints of on a hot summer evening.
