Default My son's 2007 Youth Hunt

Well, my son was sucessful today in the youth hunt in Wisconsin. We have 80 acres just across the border from us here in MI and he loves to hunt there. It was over 80 degrees today, so he wasn't too hopeful but right about 6:00 PM he got this nice doe.

This is the second deer in his second year of hunting.

Oh, deer! When you said 'youth hunt' I thought the revolution had begun. I guess I'll continue to wait for the signal.

Did he bag that with a rifle? Our rifle season doesn't begin until November. Too damn cold for me then. Stiff little Fingers.

No, no bears hat! The deer was bigger than it looks in that picture. It was a medium sized doe. Since today is a government holiday, my husband and I are going to process it today. It's way too hot outside to leave it.

He's wearing shorts (not a kilt!) that we call his Jackass shorts. JA shorts. He looks like a 50 year old golfer in them.

Wisconsin (and Michigan) have had a firearm youth hunt for the last several years. This is the second time he's done it. In Wisconsin, you have to be from 12-15 years old and there is a special hunt for these kids. It gets them out with little hunting pressure from others and an adult must be with them. This would be his last one in Wisconsin, since he's 15 now.
