Default Going to Madison, WI 4/15, pubs to visit?

Im going to Madison for the week of 4/15 for some training for work at the University there.

I was curious if theres any good brew pups to check out there. I know there's some Madison guys on here. Maybe I can even come sample some homebrews!

I was there for an interview for grad school a couple months ago. We went to Great Dane. It was a lot of fun, food was good, beer was great. I recommend that. Other than that, you'll need a permanent resident (which I will be soon!)

Ah-- the 15ht-- natch I've got plans already but.....

Great Dane Brewery-- they have 3 locations--- including one down town. Good food, decent beer.

JT Whitney's on Whitney Way-- really good food and good beer.

The Avenue Bar-- not a brew pub but a quinecential Wisconsin family bar and resturant.

The Club Tavern in Middleton-- great 'townie bar'. All you can eat steak, good drink prices, very blue collar.

Where at the UW are you going for training? My old man's office is in the College of Engineering, Thermodynamics Lab.

Thanks for the pub names. I'll be there all week with lots of company money to spend on food and beer!

I cant remember the place the training will be at, I'll check my email at work tomorrow and tell you. I know its at a place that has lodging right in it, but Im staying at the Campus Inn I believe.

Hey man...Im in Madison now....Pretty nice town here. We went to The Old Fashioned earlier right by the capitol building. They seem to have a variety of local brews there. I only had an Island Wheat while I was there and it was pretty good. Where is Great Dane at?

Great Dane is at corner of e. wilson st and king st, 2 blocks south eastish from capital. The Dane in fitchburg is off fish hatchery about a mile south of beltline and then theres the hilldale location but don't bother cuz i don't believe they can sell there beer there. Plz, correct if wrong peoples.

If you can swing out to east side to kinsman blvd off stoughton rd you'll find a wonderful beer bar called Ale Asylum. Just very good beer, nice atmosphere(no t.v.'s). It's across street from FedEx building and McChokeN'Puke

Haven't been to Brass Ring at 701 e washington yet but I've heard it's nice and lots of good local brews on tap like lake louies arena premium, mile rock amber from port washington and others. More of a live music venue than about beer.

the Angelic appears to have Ale asylum beer, capital brewery, lake louie, new glarus, at 322 e johnson st just off state st.

Middleton has Capital Brewery. Your best bet is Great Dane and The Angelic on campus otherwise your mostly dealing with don't-care-what-it-tastes-like-as-long-as-it-gets-ya-drunk bars, of course, IMHO.
