Default Ginger beer smell

Hi guys,
I'm new to brewing and have just brewed a ginger beer. I now want to brew a draught but the ginger beer smell is still in the container after soaking in sanitizer for a day. Should I still mix the draught beer with the ginger smell still there?

What container is it in? A glass carboy?

I would soak the carboy/fermenter in a little oxiclean and water for a day, then sanitize it. You should be good to go then.
