Default Getting a new pet

My fiancee and I are planning to adopt a cat in December, and while we're both really excited to bring him or her into our home, it's got me thinking of cats I used to own or know and who have passed away over the years. So it's kind of melancholy too. Has anyone else experienced this when preparing for a new pet?

My dog passed relatively shortly before my son was to get his first dog. It was kinda hard to be excited about the new dog.

Thanks, its been awhile and, of course, I am attached to the new dog. I'm sure you'll love the new cat.

unless you have a Galapagos tortoise, chances are you'll out live your animal companion. it's all about enjoying their company while they're with you and holding that special place in your heart after they've gone.

I am pretty sure my cat tries to smother me in my sleep, so...no.

The one the swmbo got while I have been laid up is trying to kill me also! I know it is. It runs in front of me or under one of my feet when I am going down the stairs, never when I am going up. It also attacks my hand when ever it can with its claws (trying to inject my skin with cat herpes or whatever nasty things they have on their claws) or does a drive by biting where it will run up to me put it's mouth on a finger and bite. Usually not hard but enough to get your attention and it runs off sideways with it back arched like a Halloween cat in a cartoon. Did I mention that the evil beast is all black. Funny thing though I never get attached to animals but this little fkr is growing on me. So to answer your question. .. no for the most part. Really missed my dog I had to leave behind when I was a teen.

You want one of my cats? Or both of them? I still can't believe SWMBO talked me into those little bastards.

Bad year for pets around here. I ever see that friggin' badger my son got a cell pick of, I'm goin' to see what the lil beeches taste like. My black cat disappeared about the time he showed up. Raised him from a kitten. But I still have my oldest pet. The tubesnake my wife used to love boogyin' with. Also known as the incredible heat-seeking moisture missile with it's one-eyed pilot Mr Happy...
