Freaking USPS
|
|
So if they can't even pull off the simplest delivery, whats the point of even having them?
I mailed a check to the apartment complex I'm moving to in Greenville SC last week. I talk to them on Monday, it hasn't arrived. It should have taken a week max for a letter to make it from Cleveland to Greenville. Talked to them yesterday, still not there. I'm supposed to move in Sunday. OK, I'll overnight it. I'm $20 lighter, but going by the tracking number, its already in Greenville. USPS, you are useless.

I was just telling SWMBO yesterday that I wished I could cancel the mail. We get like 9 credit card offers per day and a grocery store ad. Maybe once a month we get something that does not go straight to the recycle bin.

i bought tickets to a play, the theatre told me they shipped feb 9th. still haven't seen em. total distance: 30 miles.
useless. i'm always reminded of the seinfeld episode where Jerry wants to cancel his mail, and Newman finally spills it that the mail is useless.

I won't say they are useless, but I stopped using them to ship to my US customers. Not being able to track items is a pain. Also annoying, as they barcode most everything and use the codes for routing; the data just isn't available to customers.
On the other hand, I must be doing something right, haven't had a CC offer in months.

I recently sold a few games on ebay. One the people said this is how he received the item. I am now very skeptical of USPS.

Beerific,
If you want the card offers to stop, you need to opt-out of prescreenings on your credit report. I did this about a 2 yrs ago and now I hardly ever get a credit card/insurance offer.
I found it through http://www.zanderins.com/idtheft/idtheft_resources.aspx
Go down to the OptOutPrescreen link ( https://www.optoutprescreen.com/?rf=t).
I chose to opt-out permanently, which required me mailing in a form. Been the best stamp I ever used.
I also contacted Suddenlink to take me off of their mailing list. I got 3 in one day!! They did so~2weeks ago and no more mailings

It's actually a pretty good system. If they could just figure out a way to consistently break even, I'd be perfectly happy with the USPS. You can get a tracking number for everything you mail. It costs more than a regular delivery but it's still cheaper than UPS or FedEx. Their socialist fixed price boxes seem like a pretty good deal, too. I've had UPS keep a package at their warehouse in Middleburg Hts (about 10 miles away) for 3 days and they wouldn't let me come pick it up. The more expensive guys can be late too. I can get a letter from Cleveland to Orlando in 2 days for less than a buck. That's pretty hard to beat.

I've shipped some small items in the last year across country and havent had a problem with USPS.
My complaint is that in my town, they're always changing routes so I never have the same mailman who comes around the same time. I was expecting a check a few months ago, thought I had the mailmans time down pretty good, and what do ya know? Now its a mailwoman and its 4 o'clock before I get my check instead of 11. I barely had time to make it to the bank. But all in all, not a huge deal. I'm just like that, I'm not a huge fan of change.
I pretty much agree with itsme. USPS is hard to beat if you're sending something small.
